Forest Lake Community Playgroup - Roles and Responsibilities

It is Important that all Parents/Carers/Helpers read and understand these guidelines and that they are followed so we can have an enjoyable and safe playgroup. We endeavor to create a fun and positive learning environment for our little ones, a place where families can connect with other families in our community, where all members feel comfortable and accepted.

  • All Participants must sign in as they arrive and sign out as they leave. This is very important in case of an emergency.
  • As part of our Child Safe regulations every parent must fill out a participation form for each child. This is very important. It includes any allergies, emergency contact details, permission for photos etc. All forms will be kept confidential.
  • All helpers are required to hold a current blue card and must agree to a code of conduct.
  • Children are to be supervised at ALL times during playgroup, whether it is outside on the oval, at morning tea, or during inside activities. Parents are to take full responsibility of their own children.
  • Being in a school environment we understand we need to be mindful of students and teachers in classrooms nearby. Parents need to ensure their children are not wandering off into classrooms. We need to respect their rights to privacy. There is to be no confidential information about the students or teachers talked about inside or outside of playgroup.
  • In case of an emergency all members must abide to the instructions given by the helpers.
  • There is a lot of work involved in running playgroup, so all Parents/Carers/leaders will be asked to get involved and share the work load. All Parents/Carers/leaders are required to go on the setup and pack up roster, as well as reading a story sometime at group time if they feel comfortable to do so. The more roles that are shared out the more skills we have to support everyone.
  • As a community playgroup, we would like to be a welcoming playgroup, where all members feel valued and respected. We will speak in an appropriate manner, be understanding of other members differences and will greet new families to the group.
  • Playgroup is a ‘No Hurting’ zone, every child has the right to safe and fair play. Parents/Carers/Leaders are to promote positive play; turn taking, team building, etc.
  • Parents/Carers/Leaders are asked to commit to at least 6 weeks of term (except of course if sickness/unforseen events come up) so that we can squeeze as many families in available spots as possible during the term.
  • Parents/Carers/Leaders are asked to participate in group activities, to role model and encourage their little ones to get involved. These times are wonderful for building confidence in our children.
  • Children are not allowed to be unattended in the bathroom.
  • Parents must bring their child’s own Morning Tea, keeping in mind any food allergies and that we are a seafood and nut free playgroup. Children are asked to wash hands then sit on the mat. There is to be no walking around with food.
  • Permission must be given for any photos taken. Whether Child/Parent/carer or leader.

I have read, understand and agree to the above roles and responsibilities.
